RSVP - LACUNY Instruction Roundtable 2/16 – One-Shots Idea Exchange
When: Thursday, February 16th from 2pm to 3:30pm. Refreshments will be served. Please stick around for the Committee’s organizational meeting from 3:30pm to 4:00pm.
Where: at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, 219 W 40th Street, please check in on the 3rd Floor before you proceed to room 442.
What:
A one-hour panel on one-shot IL sessions, followed by a 30-minute conversation to help grow your one-shot game.
Followed by Instruction Committee's organizational meeting from 3:30-4pm.
One-Shot “flipped classroom”
Amy Stempler from the College of Staten Island will talk about their website, Writing for Research at CSI [http://opencuny.org/writingforresearchcsi/], which prepares students for their library instruction, and enables librarians to use a “flipped classroom” model for their instruction.
One-Shot Instruction Repository
Sarah Ward and Sarah Johnson from Hunter College created an “instruction repository” shared space in Google Drive. Librarians share worksheets/lessons, which are then modified and re-shared.
Developing One-Shot lesson plans for faculty
Alexandra Hamlett from Guttman Community College will talk about her library’s development of a series of IL lesson plans they share with faculty on DropBox, so that faculty can then teach IL to their classes.
Assessing One Shots
Silvia Lin Hanick from LaGuardia Community College will talk about the library’s assessment of one-shots.
