PRACTICE: Effective Communication – Level 1 – Basic Level Training
Effective communication skills used in shelter and housing settings are one of the most critical skills used in one’s job when working with clients and families. This training will review the importance of communication with clients to gain information, convey critical information and partner with clients to make important decisions in their lives. Effective communication is a necessary skill to build trust and is used to continually engage in the client in service delivery. This basic training will help workers build an essential foundation for communicating with clarity, brevity, empathy and impact so that the message they intend to convey is understood in the way it was intended.
