ITP Skills Lab: Games Based Learning with Scratch and other tools

Want to liven up your teaching by integrating games and game design? Participants in this workshop will demo some successful lessons which have incorporated games to build empathy, encourage storytelling, develop computational thinking, and to learn content from particular academic disciplines. Tools such as Scratch and Twine, and the Games for Change database will be introduced as sources where users can develop, remix, or discover games for learning. Participants will also play the game "What's Your Game Plan" to brainstorm ideas for their own educational game. Expect to walk away with preliminary ideas for a class assignment or a lesson plan incorporating games or game design.

Registration required. For more information please contact Julie Fuller, APO, Interactive Technology and Pedagogy Certificate, jfuller1@gradcenter.cuny.edu.
