What scares me most about writing my first college essay is not being what elementary teachers would say, being on “grade level”. I have a fear that my vocab is not up to par for a regular college student, therefore the work will come out looking like a child’s work. This fear then adds on to my additional fear of getting low grades, then failing. It is almost like a domino effect. If I fail, I wasted money on a course I wouldn’t even be getting credited on which means I’d have to pay more money for more classes and end up in debt. Soon, I’ll be in so much debt that my adult life wouldn’t be able to function properly. I know this seems a little exaggerated as it is just my first college essay, but in my head, if I fail this college essay, I’d be failing the course.
