Because of us (Two Genres)

Here we are in the year 2095, where we live in a world that had been overtaken by global warming and we the humans are to blame. My name is Amanda and my world is a lot different than the one that people knew back in the beginning of the century. Everything that the scientists said would happen did. We ignored all the warnings as well as all the signals that were telling us to stop the way we lived and improve our lifestyles in order to protect the future of our kids and their kids after us. Human beings have the habit of only caring about how much money they can make or how much power they can have, this greed, this evil thing, is what has caused the downfall of humanity and the world as we used to know it.

Let me start of by talking about how the world had changed. The most major and devastating thing that had happened is that sea levels have risen to such high levels that most of the famous places in the world have been flooded. New York City, possibly the most famous city in the world, the city where people would come to make their dreams come true is no longer livable because the whole place is under water. Venice in Italy, the city famous for its houses being right on the water and the only way to get around was to go in a boat in the waterway is no longer a livable area because it is now almost all under water. Venice is a very special place to talk about because people have seen that the city was slowly flooding back in 2019. There was a major flood due to rain in the city. The people in the city were trying to warn the government hat serious changes were needed in order to stop the city from disappearing underwater however none of these government officials listened. Most of Florida, one of Americas most famous vacation destinations, has been submerged underwater. The water has risen so much that now the inland cities have become coastal cities and the coastal cities have become nonexistent. This flooding and rise of sea levels is all because of us, all because we didn’t want to see what was right in front of our own eyes.

The air outside has become barely breathable. The deforestation of major rainforests and forests has caused the air to be filled with lots of carbon dioxide. We have to wear special masks whenever we want to go outside in order to survive the trip to work or to whatever destination that we are going to. Our homes are safe to breathe without a mask on, we have special filters in our house that filter out the bad air and put good air in that way we are safe to go to sleep without having to worry about death. The deforestation has also caused the air temperatures to rise to severe levels because of how thick our atmosphere has because. Countries and cities near the equator have become so hot during the summer months and most of the year that the only safe times to go outside are during the winter months and or at night. Our lives have been affected in ways that we thought was possible, but no one ever believed would happen.  We have started to repopulate the forests in order to try and reverse the changes that have occurred however I am afraid that we are a couple decades too late to try and stop this.

So many animals that we used to love and adore have become extinct. These animals are the Koala Bear, Polar Bear, Whales, Penguins, Tigers, Mountain Back Gorillas, Rhinos, Chimpanzees and many more. All of these animals suffered and faced extinction because of how greedy and evil the human race is. We cut down their homes through deforestation, we got rid of the land the lived on because of how hot the planet had become, we killed of their food sources, and worst of all we killed them, we the human race killed all of these innocent animals. All these beloved animals are extinct and there isn’t anything anyone can do about it. Our dogs and cats and household pets are safe though, although we do have to be careful when we go to walk our dogs outside because of the scorching temperatures in some of our cities and because of how bad the air quality is. All of these old bug oil and coal producing and using corporations have become obsolete now but now is too late. All of these major companies are to blame for 65% of all the terrible things that have happened. They paid off politicians and made people believe that their products didn’t do anything wrong to the environment all because they want to make a fortune.

The food that we ate has also become scarce and we had to create alternate ways of making food. We have genetically grown and altered foods in order to support the massive population of the world. We no longer have farmlands due to the fertility of the soil running out. The underground water reservoirs that have fertilized and helped water the crops has ran out. They have used them up faster than they replenished. We no longer have naturally or organically grown vegetables. As well as most of the fruits that had been naturally grown cannot be found in the wild as easily. Humans back in the beginning of the century should’ve taken precautions that the scientists have told them to take in order to help prevent all of this. Not a lot of people wanted to believe that global warming was real. One of the most powerful men in the world back in the year 2019 did not believe in global warming and would joke about it. If you are in a position of power and influence like the President of the Unites States of America is, you should be smart and responsible with doing what is the best for the nation and not what is best for you. All his jokes and statements have had a domino effect on the population and the world. People in his nation and in other nations had started to believe that climate change does not exist and had continued to ignore all the signs.

Some things that we have started to do now as a human race collectively are, we started to only rely on reusable energy sources. Some of these are the basic ones everyone knows about like solar panels, wind energy, thermal energy, hydro power as well as many others. We have also started to use only electric cars we barely use gas anymore since we have ran out of oil and all of the no renewable resources. Many people have stopped eating meat and only eat fish and vegetables since meat production has been a huge contributor to global warming. The deforestation in Brazil to create more land for animal farming has caused many people to become vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians and many other things. We now produce meat in labs too which is all produced in the labs since we stopped the animal farming. Boats and planes no longer require gas and fuel since they are also all electric and the electricity used to charge them up all comes from the renewable energy sources.

Certain people were not affected by the changes the human race had started to adapt to because they were doing all of these things for years and decades. These people would already bring reusable grocery bags instead of using the plastic ones the stores would give them. These people already had solar panels on their homes let them have renewable and sustainable energy. These people are the ones that have been looked at as weird for years for the way they lived and now they have become the ones everyone looks to for advice on how to be environmentally friendly. We needed everyone to be like them back in the beginning of the century back when the crisis had been ignored.

The downfall of humanity had been caused by our own greed and desire to only care about ourselves and the amount of money that we make. If only the human race could have become more aware and more conscious of what was going on and what had been done in the world all the pain and damage could’ve been stopped. I wrote this in order to recall the events that led to the way that we live now. In order to have something to go into the history books that the future generations will learn about. I hope there are future generations that will learn about the near end of humanity. All I can say is that I wish that people have done the things that were necessary to prevent the way we live now. This is not a good life, this is not the life that humanity wanted, this is not the life our grandchildren and our great grandchildren deserved. All of this could’ve been stopped. Let this story be remembered and used in future generations to show that if there is a world crisis that we need to get on it straight away before there are irreversible consequences that will cause humanity to go extinct. Use this as a lesson not to ignore the problem but rather to attack it and win as quickly as possible.
