 Essay 3 Composition

The two genres that were chosen for Fast food restaurants targeting black people and low income people were both train station posters and commercial. The research paper that was done before this project showed methods on how Fast food restaurants target their audience. Those methods that they used were very effective because they do attract people in general because of the prices of their products and where they are located.

There are many reasons why this project work is so important one reason is because it can save one’s life in the long run. One example of helping others in the long run was when my health care teacher told all the students not to eat a specific packaged cheese because it was said to had have plastic in it which could be harmful once consumed, and so I listened to her and convinced my parents to stop buying that type of cheese and we started to buy a healthier cheese till this day. The reason this project is so meaningful is because people don’t know the harmful dangers of Fast food. Many don’t know that in the long run Fast Food can cause obesity, memory loss due to the high saturated fats,more likely to be at risk of kidney diseases. The purpose is to help the lives of the people being targeted which are low income and black people. In doing so we can help educate others to make proper health choices no matter how young. Being able to use the same media and forms that Fast Foods use such as train station posters and commercials and be so effective. We can use their own strategy against them by using the two genres. 

What makes these genres so effective is because low income people and black people can access these easier. Not all people who are low income use the train and not all black people watch specific black networks like BET,OWN;etc but the point is to limit the amount of areas that Fast food restaurants use to target their audience. The poster that I made was so that when anyone who accesses the train and walks by can see the creativity and look at the facts and hopefully change their way they see things. The commercial that I used made it seem like another Fast food advertisement but was the complete opposite and may have caught the attention of an audience. The goal is to educate the audience because it’s unfair that low income and black people are targeted more often. 

Ultimately the significance of this project was to save peoples lives especially those who can’t support themselves like children, children may want a happy meal yet not realize the long term harmful effects. If a child can see the train poster or the commercial it can make a huge impact for the future generation. The effects of this commercial and poster on who Fast food targets and the harm it does to one’s health can affect a person’s choice before buying a fast food. Many may know the harm yet they still eat the food ,but not many may know that they may be the target and are being used by the fast food industry. Knowing this information can start protests, riots, boycotting and more which will help save peoples lives and change the way big or small Fast food companies promote their product ,and how they target black and low income people.
