As soon as I heard we could choose someone to profile, my mind came up with two choices: Oda Nobunaga and Miyamoto Musahsi. I was always interested in foreign countries mainly because I was so used to the American lifestyle. In order to choose between these two I considered the audince. In my paper I choose to profile Miyamoto Musashi. Oda Nobunaga was a well known war master so not only would he be known but it would be boring for my classmates if I spoke a lot about history.

A lot of my research came from a book written by Kenji Tokitsu, a practitioner of Musashi’s teachings. I read through it and choose interesting facts about Musashi’s life. Other facts came from memory. I was surprised, when I was researching o see how Musashi made an impact in the present day, to see the Musashi’s teachings are still making impacts today in the form of books,movies and job training.

For the planning phase I tried to categorize all the facts and ideas I came up with. This was I could use them to create paragraphs in the essay. I had an easy time going through this essay because the words just came to me. I had some minor word choice errors though.

For this assignment I visited the writing center but I did not find it too hepful in imporving my paper. There was not much to improve on. I was hoping that the person who was reviewing my essay could have suggested how to reorganize paragraphs or even shown me some better sentence structure. I guess it is both a good and bad experience. Good being that I saw how to use the writing center and was told my writing was good. Bad being there was not much to improve on.
