Hello all!

The EGD Collective is looking for volunteer speakers for the third annual Waffle Games on April 3rd from 5-10 PM at Hunter College! The Waffle Games is a convention and conference dedicated to increasing games industry accessibility through affordable education and public programming, free for all attendees and exhibitors. The event website can be found here.

Featured events include talks, panel discussions, esports tournaments, game development workshops, free-play gaming, and an exhibitor hall. Students from CUNY/SUNY are encouraged to take part in the planning and execution of the convention, with student organizations often sponsoring specific events that relate to their mission’s intersection with gaming. Students are also able to showcase their games in the exhibit hall and submit talks, alongside indie studios, more established studios, freelancers, and local gaming-related services and companies. So on the lower level, we aim to connect the industry in a closer way to students, faculty, and the public, and on the upper level, we want to remove some of the barriers to entry people experience attempting to break into games – not knowing where to begin, cost of education, and exhibitor/expo fees.

If anyone here is interested in exhibiting or speaking, the form can be found here: https://forms.gle/4xHNfK62CL2KUrvn6 . We accept submissions based around anything related to games or games-adjacent fields, and aimed at any audience – one of our other missions is to show just how much games permeate or lives and can be applied to many different fields.

I’m email subscribed to everything in the forum so feel free to reach me here if you have any questions or email me at kyra@egdcollective.org
