Hello,
As new chairs, Jill Cirasella and I (Anne Hays) would like to invite all Scholarly Communications members (and anyone with interest) to join us for the first meeting of our new term.
Here are the details:
When: December 11th, 2:30-4:30pm
Where: Grad Center Library conference room, 196.05 (enter library, head downstairs, in the back of the room is the conference room)
What: Fall 2018 group meeting
Agenda:
1. Welcome! Updates, announcements.
2. Article Club reader’s discussion (like a Book Club, but with articles!) Read these in advance so we can discuss them in person.
A. Scholarly Communication and the Dilemma of Collective Action: Why Academic Journals Cost Too Much [crl.acrl.org] (by John Wenzler) –
B. Securing Community-Controlled Infrastructure: SPARC’s Plan of Action [crln.acrl.org] (by Heather Joseph) –
C. Funding community controlled open infrastructure for scholarly communication: The 2.5% commitment initiative [crln.acrl.org] (by David W. Lewis, Lori Goetsch, Diane Graves, and Mike Roy)
4. Blog Post sign-up
5. Spring Event brainstorm
6. Future of Schol Com group name… shift name and focus to Open [Something]? Or don’t?
If you’d like to add anything to the agenda, let me know.
Best,
Anne Hays
