I’m looking for software that allows a bunch of participants collaboratively engage digitally. I’m using livesift.com as my basis of comparison. It lets participants with a net enabled device join in without registration or download. You can use it to brainstorm, poll, rank & evaluate. BUT the free version only allows 5 participants at a time, then the pricing shoots up at $25/month for a year(!). Does anyone know of similar software, and especially cheaper perhaps even free ones?

Here is what I found for free. http://uwmsk.org/arsenic_distribution/ARSenic_Instructor_Guide.pdf
I think this is the standard. You might have luck googling free Audience Response Systems. Thank you for the question. I might start incorporating this in my own teaching. 🙂

Thanks so much, Evan! I didn’t even know the term “Audience Response System.” Very cool!

Possibly not as sophisticated as your needs suggested, but if affiliated (network account), the GC has a subscription to Opinio. Not sure of the details on how access is granted, but you can inquire via the helpdesk (helpdesk@gc.cuny.edu

Thanks, Stephen. It’s not as flashy, but it does have a lot of the basic functions I was looking for. I might have to really play with it, but I was looking something that was more dynamic… something I can really manipulate quickly on the fly. Also, I will be working with children and teens, so was hoping to find something more visually striking. Again, maybe I will just have to play with the settings a lot.

Have you looked at Poll Everywhere? Sounds like Live Sift but the free tier includes up to 40 participants (so, slightly better).
