    I work at the Girl Scout Research Institute. We are looking for someone who is familiar with conducting research with the internet survey tool, Qualtrics. You would help manage the survey system and work with councils who are deploying surveys via Qualtrics. Very easy work, and great organization to work for! See description belows

    INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
    Research Intern, Survey Review, Girl Scout Research Institute

    Description of Position:

    This intern will primarily be responsible for providing the Girl Scout Research Institute (GSRI) with survey review support of all surveys submitted to GSRI, utilizing the Qualtrics survey software to ensure survey processes are in line with best practice research methodologies. The review process includes: program content checking (suitability of questions), optimal survey design, the utilization of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) under acceptable circumstances, and managing the review feedback process. Hours are flexible, but should approximate between 20-30 hours per week. The intern will be actively integrated into the Girl Scout Research Institute and IT teams and will have ample opportunity to interact with various other departments and stakeholders at Girl Scouts of the USA.

    The Girl Scout Research Institute (GSRI), formed in 2000, is a vital extension of Girl Scouts of the USA. The GSRI conducts original research, evaluation, and outcomes measurement studies; releases critical facts and findings; and provides resources essential for the advancement of the well-being and safety of girls living in today’s world. The GSRI also informs program, public policy, and advocacy for Girl Scouting.

    Responsibilities:
    • Provide survey review to all surveys submitted by local Girl Scout Councils, focusing on the areas of:
    o Check for Personally Identifying information – Based on COPPA compliances
    o Serve as council liaison and content manager for initial survey creation
    o Development of the survey flow (logic/skip patterns, scoring, etc.)
    o Advise on survey best practices around question design and final data usage
    • Provide supplemental training/support with GSRI staff to ensure a high level of customer service to Girl Scout Councils
    • Help GSRI think through new and innovative ways to improve research practices
    • Other research assistance as needed

    Qualifications:
    • Enrolled as an advanced college student or graduate student, preferably in research methodologies and social science fields (education, communication, psychology, sociology, political science, law, anthropology, economics, etc.)
    • Experience with survey design, prior experience with the Qualtrics survey platform is an asset.
    • Knowledge of privacy and information management around Personal Identifying information and COPA compliances.
    • Strong customer service experience with excellent verbal and communication skills
    • Fast learner; ability to absorb new information quickly
    • Able to prioritize tasks and make data-driven decisions
    • Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative social science research methods
    • Proven independent research skills, as well as ability to work in groups
    • Ability to take direction and initiative
    • Ability to strategize and effectively communicate creative ideas
    • Means of commuting to and working at GSUSA’s New York headquarters, located at 420 Fifth Avenue, New York, New York 10018.

    Hours: 20-30 hours a week, flexible

    Duration: December 1st – Start Date

    Compensation: $15/hour

    Location: New York City
