CAT Meeting: ePortfolio Subcommittee

    The CAT Eportfolio subcommittee met on Wednesday morning. Our funds are in place for the CUNY CAT Eportfolio Symposium to be held at Macaulay Honors College on April 12, 2013. This is a small scale conference designed to promote genuine dialogue and exchange on eportfolios, with a lead in to the AAEEBL Conference in Boston. Next week we will extend invitations to approximately 35 people, several of whom have already applied. These are recognized leaders of eportfolio initiatives. Others will be accepted based on their interest, experience and capacity to contribute to a meaningful conversation. In February, we will be asking people to serve as moderators and recorders for the break out sessions.

    The AAEEBL Conference this summer in Boston, The ePortfolio Field Coming of Age: Knowledge, Research and Practice, coincides with the blossoming of the eportfolio field, its global community and technology development. This year the conference will be held July 29 to August 1 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, which is more familiar terrain to the academic side. Deadline for submitting proposals is March 15. This year there will be six tracks:

    *Practice, Teaching and Learning with ePortfolios
    *Transitions: ePortfolios, Employability and Support of Change
    *Research and Scholarship: Evaluating and Documenting the Effectiveness of ePortfolios
    *Assessment: Using ePortfolios to Assess Learning
    *ePortfolio Start-Ups: First Steps and Beyond
    *What’s New? Open Learning and Alternative Credentialing for ePortfolios
