I have tried to upload a Group Avatar for a group I created today. I have not had trouble in the past. The 1st problem is shown in the attached screen grab. Once I click the Crop button the JPEG image uploads but has a very small crop of the upper left corner of the image.

We’ve experienced problems with the avatar cropping tool and specific browsers before (see these tickets – http://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/show/418 and http://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/show/352 ). I’ll open a new ticket for this, but can you let me know what browser you were using? As a quick workaround, you might try using another browser if you have another one on your computer. But we’ll work on this issue as soon as we have more info.

thanksI posted a seperate issue regarding member requests.
I offer the comment that managing members might
be streamlined at bit. It would be nice to paste a list
into the send email page. Selecting more than a few
members to send group request is a bit slow. Doing
an include of some form of pre-defined group would
be helpfulAs you can see I am encouraging wide use within our dept. I
will have to prod and remind many of the faculty to
participate in these forums. But, I do believe they
will be quite helpful for us.thanks again, Matt

Gold (he/him)ParticipantMichael, I opened a new ticket for your suggestion about streamlining group invitations, but I’d like to have some clarification on what you’re thinking about. When you have a chance, can you register for Redmine and add your thoughts to the ticket? http://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/show/532
Thank you, both for that and for promoting the use of the Commons.
Best,
Matt
January 3, 2011 at 11:59 am #20841Michael FerraroParticipantI registered at the redmin page but cannot log in. I got an “invalid user or password” page. I clicked the “forgot password” button and received an “unknown user” page.
I tried to register again and got the attached pageAttachments:

I think you entered a typo while registering — in both your account listing and in your screenshot above, you spelled “lehman” as “lheman,” which would explain why you didn’t receive the account activation email.
I just activated your account manually. When you have a chance, please log into the site and correct your email address (I can’t do it without your password).
Please let me know off-list whether you run into any problems.
Thanks,
Matt

mJanuary 4, 2011 at 6:11 pm #20844Boone Gorges (he/him)ParticipantHi Michael – I did some testing and the avatar problem has to do with the plus-sign in the filename. Before uploading, rename the file to make sure it doesn’t have a plus-sign.
That bug will be fixed in an upcoming version of the Academic Commons. Thanks for your report!
January 4, 2011 at 11:16 pm #20845Michael FerraroParticipantThanks Boone. I changed the name and uploaded the avatar.
