This is the group for the Center for the Humanities seminar for 2012-2013 funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The theme for this year’s seminar is “poverty.” The seminar will be co-lead by Gunja SenGupta and Jessie Daniels.

Gunja SenGupta is Professor in History Department at Brooklyn College. Her proposed seminar project is Slavery as “Poor Law”: Transoceanic Debates Over Poverty, Patriarchy, and Public Charity.

Jessie Daniels is Professor in Urban Public Health at the CUNY School of Public Health at Hunter College and at the Graduate Center. Her proposed seminar project is “Health and Poverty on Display: From TV to YouTube.”
