Sorry to spam both our announcements board and the forum! One emails everyone in the group, and one allows us all to post replies.

If you’ve got great examples of video tutorials or tools you love using in your library, please do list them here. We’ll update this thread with more links & info post-workshop.

    Cheers,
    Robin

The LACUNY Emerging Technologies Committee presents:

Video tutorials: tools and tricks to get started
Workshop led by Julia Pollack, Reference & Instruction Librarian at BCC

    Friday, April 18, 2014
    10am–1pm
Bronx Community College Library, rm. 210 (http://bcc-libweb.bcc.cuny.edu/location.html)

Creating video tutorials for students can be a daunting task. This workshop will break down the basic tools and tricks needed to start producing video tutorials in your library. We will first consider video storytelling structures. Then we will take a look at a few different screen capture programs, focusing specifically on Camtasia. We will also have a discussion about sound production and the programs that can help you create clean professional audio tracks.

The computer lab will have all the software necessary to enjoy this hands-on workshop. However, you are welcome to bring your own laptop if you want to try these programs on your own machine. This workshop is open to all CUNY librarians.

    Questions? Email Julia.Pollack@bcc.cuny.edu.

    Warmly,
    Robin Davis (JJ)

    Hi everyone!

Thanks to everyone that came out to the Bronx. I had a really great time. I have attached the two handouts I provided in class. Here are just two examples of tutorials we discussed during the workshop.

If you want a list of all the tutorials we talked about (good bad and ugly) email me!
