    To: xpmethod@lists.columbia.edu, Cameron Rasmussen <cwr2116@columbia.edu>

We are looking for instructors to join us for two cycles of the project
(one in the fall and one in the spring), teaching at Rikers Island. Each
cycle is four sessions spread out over four weeks, three hours each
session. We will go to Rikers Island either Wednesday evenings or Saturday
    mornings.

We are looking for at least one instructor who can teach coding and one who
    can teach digital storytelling.

No previous experience is necessary. Instructors will receive training and
have the chance to use existing lesson plans.

    *Time Commitment *

In addition to going to Rikers which includes 2-3 hours of programming and
the travel to and from Columbia which is approximately an hour each way,
Instructors will be required to spend a few hours each week during the
program cycles preparing as well as 10 hours or so prepping before each
    cycle.

    *About RikersBot *

Rikers Story Bot is a coding workshop and an algorithmic storytelling
project set in and about Rikers Island correctional facility, New York
    city’s main jail complex.

In teaching programming through digital storytelling, it is our hope to
encourage a dialog between the youth at Rikers, Columbia faculty and
students, and the community at large.

The RikersBot project gives all participants a chance to have their voices
heard, to learn to code, and to gain real-world experience in writing,
editing, and producing a project. Together, we are building a Twitter bot
    that will tell our story.
